Pinterest continues to evolve into an e-commerce platform. Shopping options are launched in the USA, which enable direct purchases: From search, via pinboards, via pins, and via new recommendations to browse. The feature is also to follow in other countries. Just last week, Pinterest released four new features for merchants to better promote products, among other things.

Relaxed through the crisis

Music streaming market leader Spotify currently has 130 million paying subscription customers – a full six million users were added in the first quarter. Similarly, the Corona crisis has cost the company few customers. More relaxed music genres such as instrumentals are particularly popular among users. For podcasts, topics like wellness and meditation have become more popular.

Record numbers on Facebook

In times of quarantine, three billion users worldwide now access at least one app from the Facebook corporation. So a record number of users are also cavorting on the products Instagram, Messenger or WhatsApp. In the first quarter, the average number of active users per month was 2.60 billion. The use of voice messages and video telephony, as well as views of live videos, have doubled. On the one hand, users may be trying to balance their need for social interaction. Second, significantly more people also consumed their news through Facebook during the COVID-19 pandemic.
